De Laak - The Hague
The municipality of The Hague sees the potential of creating a new part of the city in the Laakkwartier. The area, laid out as a bustling port area at the beginning of the 20th century, is now being transformed from a monofunctional industrial estate into a highly urbanized neighbourhood with a mix of functions of living and business.
The plot Verheeskade 25 was acquired by an investor from The Hague and the initiative was started - in close consultation with the Municipality of The Hague - to transform the business park into a residential / working area with a metropolitan character. By making compact and high residential towers, a lot of public space can be made along with a green square that opens to the south and the water on the Verheeskade. The parcelled block consists of separately functioning buildings, each with its own entrance and access. The block is permeable and will get a public passage from Van der Kunstraat via a passage to Lulofsstraat and the square on the Verheeskade. For the success of this new part of the city, we see it as absolutely necessary to connect places such as the Schildersbuurt, the Megastores and the Laakkwartier.
Work is currently being done on the preliminary design.
