Hans Kollhoff's work is considered among the most ambitious and challenging to be found in the contemporary architecture of the German-speaking countries. Its strength is derived from a deliberate reference to the benchmark of traditional architecture and the highest standards of craftsmanship, often considered somewhat antiquated. This monograph examines 11 recent exemplary projects and analyses their basic underlying features in an extensive essay. Selected texts by Hans Kollhoff himself shed light on his approach to architecture and the background of his works.
