The two building blocks clearly refer to the demolished port buildings and some remaining ones, such as the Hotel New York on the tip of Wilhelminapier. In the midst of large-scale new construction projects, the blocks are characterized by their refinement in facade detailing and subdivision into smaller independently functioning buildings. Each residential building is crowned with its own copper roof, which results in a lively and distinctive silhouette among the many buildings in contemporary block set architecture.
